About Our Team

Pain Meets Its Match

We’re not a spa. We’re not a luxury. We’re a pain relief clinic built for real life.

At The Body Mechanic, we help people get out of pain and back into motion—fast. From acute muscle strains to chronic tension, we take on the issues that make work harder, sleep worse, and everyday life feel like a grind.

Our approach blends manual therapy, clinical problem-solving, and straight talk. No gimmicks. No fluff. Just thoughtful care that’s tailored to your body and your goals.

David – Massage Therapist (Owner)

Craving a change after a career in retail management, I launched my massage therapy career in 2017 after graduating from Miller-Motte Technical College in Roanoke, VA. I am a highly skilled therapeutic and deep tissue massage specialist. I don’t have to work, but love what I do. I was always drawn to massage therapy, learning from a young age that I could help my mom, who suffered from chronic pain after a work accident, by using massage. I work exclusively with people living with chronic pain and I enjoy being able to help them through the healing process and make their lives a little better one massage at a time.

Angelica Perry – Doctor of Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine

Dr Perry worked as a massage therapist, in her first career.  She now specializes in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and offers hands-on osteopathic care as well as concierge primary care. Osteopathic hands on treatment can help relieve headaches or other pain, improve lymphatic flow, organ function and promote overall health. One does not have to be hurting or sick to seek better health.

Teresa – Massage Therapist

Teresa has spent over a decade practicing massage and developing a deeply
nurturing, intuitive approach to care. A lifelong learner and instructor,
she’s passionate about helping clients understand their bodies and guiding
them toward lasting relief.

Her fascination with how the body works was reignited in 2009 through
studies in yoga, depth psychology, massage, and dance. Teresa now focuses
on Fascial Counterstrain (FCS)—a gentle, hands-on method that releases
protective spasms in muscles, ligaments, nerves, and even organs.

Her sessions are calm, focused, and restorative, helping clients reduce
tension, move more freely, and reconnect with ease in their bodies.

Kate – Massage Therapist

Katheryne (Kate) Lomio, LMT, brings nearly a decade of experience helping clients reduce pain, improve mobility, and reconnect with their bodies. Her practice blends therapeutic and relaxation techniques—combining elements of deep tissue, Thai yoga, and lymphatic massage—to meet each client’s individual needs.

Kate’s philosophy centers on finding balance between structure and softness, offering sessions that both restore and rejuvenate. Outside the treatment room, she enjoys painting, baking sourdough, and exploring nature with her family.

Erika – Functional Nutrition & Wellness

Erika Hewlett, FNTP, Hormone Health Coach, and RYT200, helps clients better understand the stress, lifestyle, and nutritional patterns that can contribute to fatigue, burnout, hormone imbalance, and nervous system dysregulation.

After 26 years working as a veterinary practice manager, Erika transitioned fully into wellness work during the pandemic with a passion for helping people reconnect with their health in a more compassionate and sustainable way.

Her approach combines functional nutrition, Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA), lifestyle support, yoga, breathwork, and restorative wellness practices to help clients better support their energy, stress resilience, and overall well-being.

Known for making complex wellness concepts approachable and practical, Erika focuses on realistic guidance that helps clients feel more balanced, supported, and connected to their bodies again.

Outside the clinic, Erika enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, yoga, nature, and creating calming healing spaces through restorative wellness practices.

Trish – Office Administrator

Salem born and Salem bred—literally!
Born at Lewis Gale and a proud Salem High graduate (I bleed maroon!), I’ve
raised my son right here in the community that raised me.

I spent years working in a family-owned restaurant, where I found joy in
serving regulars and being part of their lives. But after years on my feet
and chronic pain that nothing seemed to fix, I found real relief through
massage; and a new perspective on health.

That journey led me to The Body Mechanic, where I started as a part-time
office assistant. Now, I’m learning, healing, and growing every day – and
maybe one day, I’ll become a massage therapist myself.

Tracey – Admin Assistant

A lifelong nature lover, Tracey fills her home with plants, and she’s rarely without her camera—capturing the beauty in everyday moments. When she’s not helping clients or tending to her greenery, she’s busy being Mom to her two kids, ages 2 and 10, who keep her world full of laughter and adventure.

Tracey Kinsey is one of the friendly voices and smiling faces that keep The Body Mechanic running smoothly. As our new administrative assistant, she brings warmth, organization, and creativity to everything she does. Her calm energy and genuine care make her a perfect fit for our team and our clients alike.

Currently Standing By

Fred – Education Consultant

Fred is a seasoned anatomy education professional. With long hours and constant exposure to the public, he will occasionally fall to pieces, fortunately we’re good at putting people back together at The Body Mechanic. He is also quite forgiving if someone hits a nerve while he’s working. There is quite a lot he can “stand”. Anyone who spends enough time with him will surely see he has a good heart (literally).

His passion is helping people get a deeper understanding of how they can take care of their muscles to reduce pain and increase their quality of life. Fred’s hobbies include life modeling for artists, staring contests (he always wins), meditation, and quiet contemplation while staring at the office plants.

How We Got Here

The Body Mechanic started with one therapist, one room, and one clear mission: help people who felt stuck.

Founder David Sea began practicing out of a small gym in Botetourt County, working with clients who had already tried everything—meds, surgeries, referrals—and were still in pain. His method was simple: listen well, think critically, and treat the root cause, not just the symptoms.

That approach worked—and word spread.

Today, The Body Mechanic is a growing team based in a three-room clinic in Salem, Virginia. We’ve helped hundreds of people find lasting relief, regain movement, and stop relying on painkillers or endless referrals.

Our Team

We’re a collaborative crew of therapists who love solving complex pain problems. Each team member brings something unique—but we all share the same commitment to helping you feel better, move better, and stay better.

We work together, learn constantly, and always put your needs first. Whether you’re here for a quick fix or a longer journey, you’re part of the team too.
